Group of Neuromorphic Systems

The group of Neuromorphic Systems carries out activities related to the design of neuromorphic systems:

  • AER vision sensors,
  • AER convolutions
  • Networks of AER systems
  • Learning, event-based signal processing, microchip implementation, FPGAs and extension to nanotechnologies.

Objectives of the group

  • Design of analog, mixed and digital integrated circuits for neuro-inspired applications.
  • Development of bio-inspired sensorial hardware/software, neuroinspired processing (extraction of scene characteristics, decision making and learning) and high-speed actuation.
  • The ultimate goal is the development of advanced intelligent systems performing cognitive tasks in real time. The application field of these systems goes from the domestic tasks to services, industrial applications in production lines, surveilliance tasks, and automatic driving.

In order to achieve these goals, we work on the following partial objectives:

  1. Bioinspired sensors development
  2. Bioinspired neurocortical hardware development
  3. Hardware learning techniques
  4. Neuro-inspired processing hardware/software systems
  5. Bioinspired learning algorithms
  6. Analog and mixed integrated circuits design techniques
  7. Massively parallel processing and comunication
  8. Migration to nanotechnologies
